Don't Make Me Blush - The Yeezy 500

The Yeezy 500 was hailed as garbage upon reveal... but once people got it in hand, the perceptions changed. With the Blush pair still sitting around retail prices, should you grab a pair now? Here's my thoughts.

Kanye rocked these bad boys for awhile before release. Then Kim. Then his F&f. It was the same song and dance as 750s, v2s, and 700s -"Those are wack" until they release.... and ultimately sell out. People are so quick to judge based on looks or specs, but then they see on feet, and feel them on feet, (which is fine, hate until proven comfy) but despite having no boost, the 500s are next level comfort. And some of Kanye's best work.

Digging into the adidas archives to find the KB3 sole, which has been slightly retooled, this pair breathes classic adidas vibes with new Kanye ideas. Furthering his earth tone motif, the Blush pair dons an allover cream/tan/chalk color, and is a quality material dream. Boasting cow suede, leather, mesh, rubber mudguards, 3M, and an adiprene midsole, it's safe to say this model lives up to its $200 price tag. Cheaper than the 750s, 350 V2s, and 700s, the quality materials vs price point ratio is more than met on the 500s.

As far as comfort, it surprises me this pair has no boost, because it feels like it does. The squish in the adiprene allows for step cushioning, and the upper locks in your foot. I wore these all day on a trip to Florida, and from 4a to 10p with them on, it wasn't until about 7p that my feet started to hurt. That's good for any shoe. The mesh allows for breathability, and while they are a bulkier shoe, (can't recommend them for much besides street wear) they don't feel like bricks on your feet.

The 3M is easily one of my favorite features. It is a subtle detail that makes the otherwise subtle shoe pop. The lacing system is pretty straightforward, and the hard rubber tongue pull is a unique feature. The fit, for me at least, is TTS with other yeezys. I'm a 10 in V2s, and 700s, and a 10 in this fits perfectly.

Overall, this is probably my 2nd favorite yeezy model. V2s are first, then these and I would put 700s third. I just like the overall look and materials of the 500s better. I would give this particular Blush pair a solid 8.5/10. Only negatives being that they are a bit heavier, and with a suede toebox you can't wear them in every type of weather. Other than that, they are a solid pair with a easy to match colorway.

Should you cop? That's up to you. This pair was pretty saturated. Resell price may go up in the future, but the Super Moon Yellow pair just dropped (which was far more limited but not well received - people are not a fan of the color in-hand) (i'll have a review upon their arrival) and there is a charcoal black pair dropping in July, so that's completely up to you. I don'e see the price going up for the next few months at least. Mind you there is also a 'Salt' white pair and 'Eggplant' purple pair coming this fall. So the 500s are only getting started.

Here are some additional images, and as always, feel free to ask any further quesitons!

Thanks so much for reading, I truly appreciate your support.
