Sneaker Reviews - Off-White x Nike Vapormax

My business partner Atlas1216 was able to get his hands on some #TeamEarly Off White Vapormaxes, and let me take some pics and get a feel for them. So, without further ado, let's take a look at these works of art.

First reactions...

Virgil went crazy genius on this pair. He paired a crystal clean white upper with tan accents and an icy clear sole, and kept the orange tab and red zip tie. Opening the box you can sense the innovation and discussions that went into crafting this pair. From the reverse packaging (more pictures at the end), the Jordan x Off-White mixed paper (featuring the 'Wing It' ads from the AJ2 campaign) , the extra laces and the eye-catching shoe, opening this box feels like your first video game system on Christmas morning when you were a kid. I award you many presentation points, Nike / Virgil.

I want to dive into the paper real quick. The fact they mixed the 'Wing It' campaign with the Off-White logo, to me is fantastic. Nike took a major gamble with Virgil. He had Off-White going well, but adidas was running the sneaker hype game at the point Nike introduced their first Off-White collab. They 'wung it' if you will by letting a creative mind have his way with classic models that people admire and love. He remixed them, like a DJ does a hot track, and was able to place first on the charts. It may all be coincidental, but I truly feel like this was a gamble for Nike that paid off BIG time.

Anyways, upon taking it out of the box, you see the blue extra set of laces.

The shade is more of a university/Carolina blue in my opinion. I think it really adds some flair to the colorway and will be absolutely perfect to rock in the summertime.

The shoe itself, is incredible. From the foggy white tips on the edges of the sole protecting the crystal clear air pods, the stitched on foggy swoosh, the two bright hits of orange via the orange side tab and swoosh on the tongue logo, to the tan suede overlay around the eyelets. Holding this pair, you feel like you are holding a Picasso - so much thought and detail went into the design and it shows through.

My favorite aspect of this shoe is the medial side. It has the signature Off-White printing covered/mixed in with the swoosh and the upper. It is a minor detail in the macro of the shoe, but I think it adds even more value. I like medial sides of shoes a lot, I don't they get as much love because they are hidden by the other shoe. As you can see in the picture, the print is on top of the flyknit and heel covering, but gets mixed in with the stitching, and then goes underneath the wider part of the swoosh.

I don't know, maybe I'm too focused on the construction but the fact it still looks so clean over 3 different layers of material, it's reasons like this these shoes go for over 1k (okay, I guess it's mainly the hype but still)

Pressing on, the flyknit is soft as a sock, the suede covering the eyelets is buttery, and the zip tie is shiny and red as a fire truck. Just... unparalleled. The insole has the Off-White logo and says 'The Ten" (pictures below) and the lateral side has "AIR" on the heel cup. The perforated upper allows for maximum breathability and comfort, while the white Vapormax strip on the heel will allow for extra reinforcement.

This shoe will be hard to get, and expensive to secure. But if you have the chance, anything under 1k I would say jump on - these will be great for summer and are on track to be one of this spring's best releases.

Below are more angles and details. Stay tuned for release info on these, as they may be a Euro exclusive, and could drop in the upcoming months.
