Gold Standard: Air Jordan 1 'Gold Toe' Early Look

The All Star Week heat continues with the Air Jordan 1 Gold Toe that drops tomorrow. If you are looking to cop (which you should), find out details and closer looks here, courtesy of @Atlas1216 at the Grails Inc. Store in Greenwood, IN.

The Jordan 1. Classic.

Patent leather. Classy.

Now what happens when you mix the two and add touches of gold? Pure.Money.

Back in November, Jordan Brand brought similar color blocking to their Complex Con Exclusive 'Top 3 Gold' Jordan 1. Extremely limited, it was rumored the pair would later see a

wider release. Que All Star Weekend. Instead of the Top 3 version, we get a slightly different variation, with gold toes on both shoes, a black tongue on both, and mirrored white outside panels with black inside panels. In my opinion, these are even better.

Taking them out of the box, the patent leather is as shiny as ever. You see the perfect white and black contrast paired with beautiful gold accents, and you feel the quality. Often times patent leather can look cheap and plastic-y, but not here. JB made sure to bring their A-game, and crafted these as if Michael Jordan himself was going to wear them to the Oscars (Space Jam will forever be a snub). All jokes aside, this pair is as smooth as butter, and as flashy as a gold medal.

The backside, as you can see, it mainly gold, as the mirrored black and white panels and swooshes meet in the back to provide more contrast.

This pair does come with extra laces, a white pair and a black pair, and personally I think the white laces would look extremely sharp. The tongue has a gold stitched tab with Nike Air in black, and the insole is black with gold Nike Air lettering.

In my personal opinion I think this pair is a home run for Jordan Brand. It has a feel of elegance with the patent leather, and the gold brings class and upper echelon vibes to a pair we are so used to seeing in red and blue. Reasons I think they are better than the Top 3, are the mirrored side panels and the black tongue. The white tongue is a good look on some pairs, but with the mainly black and gold upper, the black tongue makes it look more complete in my opinion.

For $160, this drop is a no brainer. In the spring and summer sun, these will reflect and shine bright, and help elevate any outfit to the next level. The patent leather will crease but all 1s look better creased, right? While this release isn't an everyday type colorway, it will definitely pop on those occasions you do wear, and with the different lace options, I think this shoe at retail is a must-cop. It has a premium feel and I thought they would raise the pricetag, but at a standard $160... try for these tomorrow.

SNKRS app, FCFC store procedures, LA popups, whatever - do your thing and thank me later.
