Game Time: PG 2 PlayStation

The PG2 debuted in epic fashion with a PlayStation Collab. After a SNKRS draw that handed out plenty of Ls (me included) it looks like these will remain a highly sought after, limited release. @Atlas1216 had some pairs early (and for a STEAL... stop sleeping on him), so here's my review of the PG2 PlayStation.

Nike and PG started strong with the PG1. One of the best signature models in awhile, it was well received and came dressed in some enticing colorways. Fast forward and now PG has a new team and a new signature shoe. Since he was a kid, he loved the PS2 and he said playing games was a big part of his childhood. He would play games and learn moves he would then translate to the court. Now he plays the PS4 between games and practice, and he was able to lock down a collab of Nike and PlayStation, two of his favorite brands.

Upon opening the box, you see a deep navy and black shoe with hits of pink, blue, and a speckled sole. The colors are modeled after the DualShock PS controllers, and that definitely shows. The colors are extremely defined and sharp, and the shiny patent leather heel cup grabs your attention.

The shoe sits atop an icy blue sole that perfectly contrasts the dark upper. Taking it out of the box, you see eyelets that borrow the colors of the controller buttons, and a bright pink swoosh on the midsole. The midsole and lateral swooshes all are different colors, again corresponding to the controller button colors.

The standout feature for this shoe is obviously the tongue. With the PG logo on the left shoe and the PlayStation logo on the right, each one has a power button on the back of the tongue. Press the tongue once, it lights up like you are powering on your PS4.

Press it twice, it pulsates different colors. It is a feature that blows these out of the water and makes them one of Nike Basketball's best efforts in a long time. In the light they are noticeable, but put them in the dark and it is insanely bright. Definitely great work by Nike and PlayStation.

Past that feature, the details are unparalleled. The patent leather heel cup has the PlayStation X,O, triangle and square symbols printed all over it, and those buttons' colors are what make

up the bottom 4 eyelet colors and the 4 swoosh colors (pink, green, blue, purple).

The insoles feature a galaxy print with a bright red/pink PlayStation and PG logo to match the logo on each tongue. The sole is icy blue, with a light blue/purple tint PG logo on the heel of each shoe that matches a mid-foot traction pad of the same color. Pink, green, blue, and purple speckles are on the midsole of each shoe again carrying the button color motif throughout.

Like I said before, Nike outdid themselves with this one - both model and colorway. The PG1 was a great start but the overall look and feel of the PG2 I think is a major improvement. They have plenty of colorway options to work with that can make this model

incredible. A high cut heel seems ideal for

basketball play and while it ditched the strap, a tighter lacing system near the forefoot looks promising for foot lockdown.

If you were able to grab these, congrats, you picked up one of the hottest shoes of 2018 and I can't wait to see the photo shoots people do with these. If you missed out, resell has skyrocketed to around $800, but if you are an avid PlayStation, sneaker (and/or thunder) fan, find the funds and grab em, you won't be disappointed.

For your enjoyment, here are some more angles and specs!
