Early Look: Black Cement 3

Jordan Brand looks to capitalize on All Star Weekend by bringing back one of the most famed Jordans of all time, the Black Cement 3. Courtesy of @atlas1216, I've written my in-hand, early review on the 2018 pair.

The Black Cement 3. Now ready for its 5th retro (6th release) and bringing back Nike Air for the first time since 2001, is classic as ever. Arguably the crowd favorite Jordan of all time (if not, top three easy), Jordan Brand will bring this pair back during All Star Weekend, dropping on Feb 17th, which happens to be the birthday of the Jumpman himself.

Jordan sparred no details in the return of the classic. Upon opening the box, you are greeted with the nail polish-fresh smell that sneakerheads know so well, and a neon orange hang tag sitting atop a bed of premium black tumbled leather. The bright red eyelets are the next thing you notice as you take them out of the box, and fell the smooth, quality construction.

Looking at the shoe, you know you are looking at history, as this shoe has so many stories with it, all the camping out over the years, and all the history each release adds. This time, it is clear they wanted to pull out all the stops and make collectors happy. As you turn the shoe around, you see something that has been missing since the early 2000s... something that just completes the masterpiece...

The Nike Air.

Since 2008 the heel tab has had the Jumpman and 'AIR' label printed on the back, but it never really satisfied. Now Nike and Jordan have brought back the ever sought after Nike Air heel, and the white contrast writing on the black has never looked sharper or cleaner.

All in all, I think Jordan nailed this retro. All too often we see half-baked quality and retros that disappoint due to lack of detail. But with a colorway and silhouette as iconic as the BC3, no shortcuts can be taken... and it doesn't look like any were.

With all the All Star Week offerings and drops, some shoes can often be overshadowed by other ones. While I don't see that being the case here, don't let your old pair satisfy - get this pair too. It has the Nike Air, it has premium leather, and as far as a proper retro, this is the best in awhile. Also, this pair can go with almost any outfit that isn't navy, and will be great to rock all spring and summer (and fall and winter). The pair comes with a $200 price tag, but as far as ASW offerings and upcoming shoes, drop the $200 and slim down your cop list. We may not see these again for awhile and even if so, it may not have all the bells and whistles this pair does.

February 17. This Saturday. Stand in line, cop on SNKRS, enter raffes, whatever it takes.

You won't regret it.

Still unsure? Here's some extra angles:
